Equestrian Introduction Camp: Basic horsemanship & animal husbandry, ground work, grooming, riding & much more! Group 1: for the beginner or intermediate riders age 4 - 12 Group 2: intermediate riders age 10-15.
Western Riders Camp: Western Pleasure, Performance, Equitation & Ranch Riding. Group 1: for the beginner or intermediate riders age 4 - 12 Group 2: intermediate riders age 10-15.
All our camps are hands on, from start to finish with the horse and rider. Each Day consists of 4 hours instructional time. Campers will learn basic Horsemanship, Animal Husbandry, Stable Management, Handling and Ground skills, Grooming, Saddling & Tacking up, Basic Riding skills & Proper Horse Care.
Activities include:
DAY 1: Stable Tour, horse introduction of breed and discipline, anatomy lesson, animal husbandry, stall management, grooming lesson, ground lesson and handling. Saddling and tack demonstrations with proper equipment fit. Ride time to evaluate riding experience level and determine group placement.
DAY 2: Horse leading, grooming, saddling & Tacking up, mounting, basic stretching/reigning/leg aid & voice command communication skills, riding at a walk. Walking over ground poles and some trotting could be introduced today.
DAY 3: Groom, tack and ready the horse. Riding will consist briefly of the above and progress into more jogging and trotting, discussing the different gaits. More poles, bending poles and serpentines.
DAY 4: Briefly all of the above, progressing into loping or cantering for the more advanced riders and working more on obstacles with other riders: bridges, poles, narrow passages, trotting on rail equitation and trot poles.
DAY 5: MORE SADDLE TIME! Continuing Riding skills, Trail Ride around the property and Demonstrations. Ending the day with a Pizza party, photos, games & prizes!
